Alice Lloyd Hosts 4th Annual “Trunk or Treat” for Area Children
Alice Lloyd College student–athletes, along with various campus organizations, brought an abundance of smiles to many area children this Halloween as they hosted the fourth annual “Trunk or Treat” in Pippa Passes. The event took place on October 31st from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.
Eagles Move to 2-0 With Win Over KCU
The Alice Lloyd Eagles hosted the Kentucky Christian Knights on Tuesday, November 5th. ALC, coming off a win over Union College, was able to increase their lead in the second half as the home team would take the victory, 94-82. The game was played at Alice Lloyd’s Grady Nutt Athletic Center.
#1 Lady Eagles Pushed in First Game, Win 83-81
The Alice Lloyd women’s basketball team opened their season on Tuesday, November 5th, against the Lady Knights of Kentucky Christian University. ALC came out of this one on the winning end by a score of 83-81. The game was played at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center in Pippa Passes, Kentucky.
Eagles Off to Strong Start, Defeat Union 84-77
The Alice Lloyd men’s basketball team opened their season on Saturday, November 2nd, versus the Union College Bulldogs. It was a close affair for most of the contest, but Alice Lloyd was able to pull away from the visitors in the waning stages to win 84-77.
Men’s Basketball 2013-14 Season Outlook
The Alice Lloyd Eagles come into the 2013-14 season with renewed enthusiasm and are looking to raise some eyebrows. Despite the squad’s struggles last season (11-19, 3-12 KIAC), there were some bright spots that included an upset victory over conference powerhouse Indiana University East and pushing nationally-ranked Indiana University Southeast to the limit. Duff Lands TV Show On DISH Network
Alice Lloyd College had the opportunity to speak with ALC alumnus, Mr. Todd Duff. Duff has recently landed his show, Jak’d Up Outdoors, on the Hunt Channel on DISH Network. Jak’d Up Outdoors premiered on October 3rd. The show airs every Thursday at 7:00 AM (or check your local listings).
Alice Lloyd Women’s Basketball Team Ranked #1 in Preseason Poll
The 2013-2014 Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference preseason women’s basketball poll was released Wednesday, October 23rd, by KIAC officials. Point Park University and Alice Lloyd College were selected by conference coaches to finish in the top spot after both received the same number of voting points.
Lady Eagles Basketball Season Preview
The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles are coming off a season where they were a bucket away from reaching the finals of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletics Conference tournament. Overall, it was a strong season (18-11, 10-5 KIAC) for the squad, despite its unfortunate conclusion. However, this is a new year and each year tells its own story. Athletics Hall of Fame Welcomes Three New Members
On Saturday, October 12, 2013, Alice Lloyd College inducted three former athletes into its Athletics Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place at the Grady Nutt Athletic Center on the College’s campus as part of the annual Appalachia Day Homecoming activities.
Alice Lloyd College Receives $1 Million Gift
Prominent eastern Kentuckian, Julianne “Judy” Perry, in honor of the memory of her late husband, G. Chad Perry III, has given Alice Lloyd College one of the largest donations in its history. Alice Lloyd will receive $1 million, which will be used to fund four Presidential Scholarships, school officials said today.

The June Buchanan School PTO is sponsoring a fall fundraising event featuring Dr. Carl Hurley, a world renowned comedian known as “America’s Funniest Professor.” The event will be held in the Campbell Arts Center on the campus of Alice Lloyd College and The June Buchanan School on Friday, October 4th, at 8 PM.
Alice Lloyd Receives Grant to Fund Greenhouse Project
College administrators at Alice Lloyd College are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a $3,000 grant from the Work Colleges Consortium. The grant, which will fund a greenhouse project on the College’s campus, was given to Dr. Patrick Greene, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Physics at Alice Lloyd, who successfully proposed the venture as “Growing Our Own Plants for Campus Landscaping: A Work-Learning Pilot Project.”
ALC Names Alumna and Alumnus of the Year
On the evening of Friday, September 20th, Alice Lloyd College held its 17th Annual Alumna and Alumnus of the Year Banquet. This special event provides the College an opportunity to honor two of its outstanding alumni and celebrate their lives of service and leadership. This year’s honorees were Mrs. Bessie Conley Draughn and Mr. Ray Slone.
ALC’s Caudill Players Announce Repertory Season
Alice Lloyd College is pleased to present the 2013-2014 company and season for The ALC Alfred and Shirley Wampler Caudill Players under the direction of Megan Burnett, Alice Lloyd’s Assistant Professor of Speech and Theatre. The Caudill Players is a company of six actors who tour one-act plays to schools and community groups in southeastern Kentucky and beyond free of charge.
