ALC Mourns the Passing of Jackie Sparkman
On November 8th, longtime Alice Lloyd College employee Jacqueline “Jackie” Sparkman passed away after a long-fought battle with cancer. Jackie grew up just minutes from campus and was a beloved member of the ALC community throughout her whole life. She began her twenty-two years of service to ALC in May 1997 as the Accounts Receivable Clerk and moved to her most recent position, Coordinator of Community Programs and Assistant to the Director of Development, in 2007. The outpouring of love from the ALC Community during this time is a testament to the influence her life had and continues to have in the Appalachian region.

ALC Professor Presents at National Symposium on Student Retention
Recently, Dr. Steve Herr, ALC’s Associate Professor of Education, presented at the National Symposium on Student Retention (NSSR). The Symposium serves as the annual meeting of the Consortium for Student Retention Data Exchange (CSRDE), an association of two-year and four-year institutions with the common goal of achieving the highest possible levels of student success through collaboratively sharing data, knowledge, and innovation.
Alice Lloyd College Athletics Welcomes Three New Members to Hall of Fame
On Saturday, October 12th, Alice Lloyd College welcomed three individuals into its Athletic Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony took place in the new Campus Center Complex as part of the annual Appalachia Day Homecoming activities. This year’s inductees were: David Hatfield, Jeremy Osborne, and Kaylan Richardson Centers.
