On Saturday, October 11th, the Alice Lloyd College community came together to celebrate the College during its annual Appalachia Day Homecoming.
Hundreds of alumni and friends of the College joined current students, faculty, and staff for a day filled with traditional mountain music, arts and crafts booths featuring Appalachian artisans and authors, and a classic soup bean supper in the Hunger Din.
Throughout the day, numerous athletic, alumni, and student events brought excitement to campus. In the morning, ALC baseball and softball alumni faced off against the current Eagles and Lady Eagles teams. Later, the men’s and women’s basketball teams held their blue and white scrimmages, showcasing their talent ahead of the upcoming season. During the athletic events, ALC Athletics also recognized new members of the ALC Athletic Hall of Fame, which you can read about on page 8.
The 2025 Homecoming Court was announced during halftime of the Lady Eagles’ scrimmage. Miss Emory Hazelwood represented the freshman class, and Miss Lauren Jacobs represented the sophomore class. This year’s Homecoming Princess is Miss Chloe Brown, and the 2025 Homecoming Queen is Miss Christa Amburgey.
It was truly a blessing to share such a beautiful Appalachia Day with the ALC community and our wonderful friends from across the nation. We are thankful to the vendors, musicians, alumni, and guests who helped make this year’s celebration one to remember. We are already looking forward to next year’s festivities and hope to see you there!
