The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles softball team was back on home soil over the weekend for a series against conference rival Midway College. Here is a recap of the four-game set.

Saturday, April 5th
Game 1

Kayla Stambaugh pitched the first game for ALC. Midway got on the board first, scoring two runs in the third as this one would turn out to be a thriller. The Lady Eagles got those two runs back in their last at-bat in the seventh inning. This would push the game into extra innings. Midway would take the lead for good with the game-deciding run in the top of the eighth.

Morgan Chestnut had both RBIs for Alice Lloyd in this contest. Stambaugh went all eight innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out five batters.

Game two of the series would see Whitley Albury take the mound for ALC. Midway drew first blood in this game as the visitors would score two runs in the fifth inning. MC would add an insurance run in the sixth to make it 3-0.

The Lady Eagles were able to record six hits, but could not bring any runs home. Ultimately, ALC self-destructed, committing four errors. Albury pitched a complete game, allowing five hits and three runs.

Sunday, April 6th

Stambaugh returned to the mound for the opener on Sunday against Midway. MC struck hard in the first inning, going for three runs. Alice Lloyd plated one run in the third, beginning a comeback charge to tie the game in the sixth to even the score at 3. However, Midway would go on to score two runs to take a lead it would not relinquish.

Brittany Dalton and Tailor Morgan drove in runs for ALC.

Albury pitched the series finale. Midway scored three in the second to jump out front. Alice Lloyd was able to get two across in the third to cut the deficit down to one run, however, Midway was just too much for ALC as the road team scored runs in the fourth and fifth innings to put the game away.

Kaylin Corns, Megan Boswell, and Tailor Morgan had RBIs for the Lady Eagles.
