The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles softball squad traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on April 18th and 19th to battle the Point Park Lady Pioneers. Here is a recap of the four-game series.

Friday, April 18th
Game 1

Whitley Albury pitched the series opener for Alice Lloyd. Point Park scored three in the first and one in the second to jump out to a 4-0 lead. The Lady Pioneers would go on to score two more in the fifth to seal the victory.

ALC mustered up six hits, including two each for Tori Price and Megan Jones, but the Lady Eagles were unable to capitalize on those opportunities.

Kayla Stambaugh took to the mound for game two. Point Park again jumped onto the board first, scoring two in the first inning. Two more runs in the second by the Lady Pioneers would find Alice Lloyd down 4-0 after two innings.

ALC got two runs in the third as Megan Boswell had an RBI single to score Allison DePriest. Kaylin Corns also drove home a run; the RBI knock would bring Tailor Morgan home. PPU responded with one in the bottom half of the third to make it 5-2 Lady Pioneers. ALC inched closer with one run in the fifth when Morgan scored again on a wild pitch. ALC would later get a runner on base with a base hit in the sixth, but could not bring the run across the plate.

The seventh inning would see Alice Lloyd go down in order to end the game.

Saturday, April 19th
Game 3

Albury was back on the mound for game three of the series. A five-run first would propel the Lady Pioneers to an early lead, which they would not relinquish. PPU would score three more in the third and two in the fifth. Alice Lloyd would score their only run in the fourth, a solo home run by Tori Price.

Stambaugh pitched the series finale. ALC scored first with one run. Tori Price hit an RBI single to drive home Tailor Morgan, who hit a double to set up the run-scoring opportunity. PPU responded with two runs in the home half of the first to take a 2-1 edge. ALC would fight back to take a 3-2 lead in the third, bringing home two runs as Megan Boswell hit a two-run single to plate Megan Jones and Tailor Morgan.

Point Park responded with a three-run inning in their half of the third, making it 5-3 in their favor. The Lady Pioneers would add two more in the fifth.

Alice Lloyd tried to start a rally, recording two hits in the sixth, but left both base runners stranded. ALC was retired in order to end the game in the seventh.

The Lady Eagles return to Pippa Passes for a four-game set with IU Southeast on April 25th & 26th.
