Womens 4The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles were back on the court on Friday, November 22nd, as they traveled to Circleville, Ohio to take on the Ohio Christian University TrailBlazers. The Lady Eagles put up a very spirited fight, but came up just short, 90-86.

This was ALC’s first game since going 1-1 in the Milligan College Classic. Ohio Christian would prove to be quite the formidable opponent, coming in ranked third in the NCCAA. In the first half, it was just as advertised as the lead changed hands multiple times and was always close. Alice Lloyd managed to take a four-point lead into the half, 43-39.

The second half was much like the first, and it didn’t disappoint. The Lady Eagles maintained a slight advantage for some of the second stanza, but the Lady TrailBlazers made just a few more plays and committed fewer errors in the waning stages. In such a close battle, the little things usually make the difference, and in this case, Ohio Christian just had a little bit more in the tank as compared to Alice Lloyd. OCU outscored the Lady Eagles 51-43 in the concluding stanza.

Coach John Mills remarked that sometimes a team just makes plays when they need to, and he commended Ohio Christian for doing that.

Alice Lloyd had three players to score in double figures. Ariel Nickell had an impressive night, dropping 35 points to go with 17 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. Carla Booth contributed 28 points, and Taylor Arthur continued her strong play of late with 13 points and 14 boards.

Ohio Christian was led by Olivia Davis with 21 points.

The Lady Eagles receive a much-needed rest through the Thanksgiving holiday, but will return on December 3rd to play Kentucky Christian on the road. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM.
