audition posterEagle Theatre’s spring production, Censored on Final Approach, is currently seeking a cast and crew. Megan Burnett, Alice Lloyd’s Assistant Professor of Speech and Theatre, needs a cast of five women and four men, a stage manager, costumers, a dramaturge (researcher), designers, crew members, marketing and public relations crew, and house management. Auditions for the play are open to Alice Lloyd students, faculty, and staff, as well as to people from the surrounding community. Spring play auditions are scheduled for Monday, November 25th, from 6 – 8 PM in the Campbell Arts Center (CAC).

“If you would like to audition or would like to be involved in another way, please consider joining the fun,” Ms. Burnett said. “Students can earn college credit by signing up for Theatre 460. This will allow them to earn credit for the time they spend working on the production.”

Once the cast and crew have been determined, practice for the play will be every Monday through Thursday, from 6 – 9 PM on most nights. Crew, designers, etc. will most likely not meet each night for three hours, but will have crew calls and will work on projects outside of this time frame.

Censored on Final Approach, a play by Phylis Ravel, journeys into a time and place often left out of history books. Set during World War II, the play shines a spotlight on a select number of female pilots who were selected to serve as WASPs, Women Air Service Pilots. They were not embraced by their male counterparts and struggled for acceptance daily. After the war, four WASPs meet to reminisce about their challenges and successes. The conversation soon shifts to a redacted report about a fellow pilot who was killed while trying to land her aircraft. What really happened? Someone knows the truth.
