Coach Stepp speaks with his women’s cross country team before the race.

The Alice Lloyd College Eagles cross country squad ventured to Midway in the early morning hours this past Saturday to participate in a big conference meet. The race was held on the campus of Midway College.

The event was a challenge as the day was bitterly cold. The starting temperature was around 40 degrees, but the wind gusts made it feel even colder.

“I felt that this meet was a major test for our young squad,” commented Coach Gary D. Stepp. “These kids showed a lot of fight, running on such a frosty day against top-flight competition. However, no one can question their heart or effort, and I’m pleased with their determination.”

Alice Lloyd will be off until November 9th when they will participate in the KIAC Tournament at Midway.
