Entrepreneurship
Alice Lloyd College recently partnered with Young Professionals of East Kentucky (YPEK) and Morehead State University Innovation and Commercialization Center (MSU ICC) to host a Youth Entrepreneurship Forum on September 12th. Halie Smith, Director of the Appalachian Entrepreneurial Development Program at ALC, introduced guest speaker Johnathan Gay, Executive Director of MSU ICC. Mr. Gay interacted with the audience to inspire ideas that could potentially create a successful enterprise in eastern Kentucky. He continued to discuss the process of becoming an entrepreneur and encouraged students to work towards their goals. The conversation sparked an interest in a handful of students to create an entrepreneur club, which is already being implemented.

Ms. Halie Smith later commented, “This event was a great success. Our students had the opportunity to express their passions and learn how they can promote economic growth by turning their innovative ideas into realities. I believe this is the beginning of an entrepreneurial movement on our campus and in our community.”
