The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles were on their own turf on Tuesday afternoon to take on the Lady Bears of the University of Pikeville in the last home game of the season. Let’s take a brief look at what transpired during the two-game series.

Alice Lloyd sent Kayla Stambaugh onto the mound for the series opener. Pikeville got on the board early, but the Lady Bears would blow the game open with 7 runs in the top of the fifth inning. The hosts had a tough time at the plate as Whitley Albury had ALC’s only hit of the game.

Albury pitched game two of the doubleheader for ALC as the hosts looked to gain a series split. Pikeville scored seven runs in the top half of the third only to watch Alice Lloyd storm back with seven big runs to knot the game in the bottom of the inning.

UPike scored one in the fifth and added two crucial insurance runs in the seventh. In their last at bat, the Lady Eagles would hit two long fly balls, but they were both raced down in the outfield for outs. Megan Jones and Shayla Brinegar had 2 RBIs apiece while Kristin Fields and Stambaugh adding 1 apiece. ALC was outhit 12-9. Megan Boswell and Fields each had 2 hits.
