The Lady Eagles continued their winning ways last night as they hosted conference opponent Berea College. ALC defeated the Lady Mountaineers by a score of 78-65.

The #1 ranked team in the conference got on top early and never relinquished the lead. ALC led by as many 12 points in the first half and settled for a 41-32 lead after a buzzer-beating 30-foot bomb from sharpshooting guard JJ Hickson.

In the second half, ALC maintained their advantage. They extended their lead to 14 over the Lady Mountaineers early in the second stanza. Berea cut the lead to 54-46 with about 10 minutes to play, but this would be as close as they would get.

Alice Lloyd rode their free throw shooting and defense to the win, forcing 17 turnovers. With the victory, they are now in the midst of a 4-game winning streak.

For the Eagles (11-6; 5-1 KIAC), Ariel Nickell continued her stellar play. The junior provided a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore guard Carla Booth contributed 21 points.

Berea (4-11; 0-2 KIAC) was led by Shelby Romine with 20 points.

Both teams were about even in field-goal percentage. Alice Lloyd shot 46% while Berea shot 44% percent. The real difference in the game, though, was free-throw shooting. The Lady Eagles were 17-21 (80.9 %) from the stripe while Berea shot 9-16 (56.2%) from the foul line.

The Lady Eagles will be on the road for their next game, facing IUS on January 12th.
