Alice Lloyd College’s Caudill Players travelled to Jenkins, KY on August 25, 2012 to join in on the city of Jenkins’ Centennial Celebration. The Caudill Players are a talented group of actors and actresses from the College that travel the state performing a diverse selection of dramas, spreading their knowledge of drama, and recruiting for the college that they represent.

After being asked to perform at the celebration by Donna Boggs, a member of the Cumberland Mountain Arts and Crafts Counsel, the Caudill Players worked together to devise three scenes. The scenes were imagined reenactments of what life would be like in 1912, which was when Jenkins officially became a city. The Players used historical documents to help in the creation of their scenes. One of these documents was a petition, which was written in 1911 and requested that the city of Jenkins be formally created. This petition was even incorporated into the scenes and was read by Jackson Driskill, a sophomore at Alice Lloyd.

While at the celebration, the Caudill Players had the honor of meeting Mr. George Jenkins for whom the city was named, as well as the mayor of Jenkins and Leslie Combs, a democratic representative on the Kentucky legislature. The eight Caudill Players that performed in Jenkins were Kristal Clark, Katie Eversole, Tyler Hooker, Candy Hughes, Vanessa Paliotus, and Tonya Perry. Katy Smith worked as the stage manager, and faculty member Megan Burnett, leader of the Caudill Players, accompanied them as director.
