The Alice Lloyd College Eagles Baseball squad hosted Ohio Christian University in a chilly Saturday double-header. The results on the scoreboard, however, surely warmed the heart of Eagles mentor Scott Cornett as he saw his team earn two nice victories.

 

 

GAME 1

The Eagles came back from a third inning 2 run deficit to win going away. Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the third inning, ALC saw three runners cross the plate. They added three insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the last of the sixth.

ALC Eagles Shane Pack, Brandon Arnold, Jeff Cyrus, Cody Hyden, and Kevin Smith each registered 2 hits, while the latter four each had one double. Pack and Hyden led the way in the RBI department with 3 and 2 apiece.

Pitcher Wayne Sparks tossed 4 innings to earn the pitching victory. He allowed 8 hits and registered 6 strike-outs.

The Eagles had 12 hits to Cincinnati’s 9.

The Eagles only had three hits, but made them count in a come from behind pitchers’ duel. Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the third inning, ALC tied up the contest. They then put 2 clutch runs across the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for the nice win.

ALC Eagles Jeff Cyrus, Kevin Smith, and Ryan Lockhart each registered 1 hit and 1 RBI apiece.

Pitcher Corey Brewer scattered four hits over 6 innings while striking out 3 to earn the win. Neil Dillion tossed a perfect 7th inning of relief to get the save.
